Description:

This was a joint venture project with Rentenbach Contractors Inc. Rams Head is a multi-use facility located on the South Campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Project consists of a 56,000 SF Food Service Facility, a 58,000 SF Student Recreation Facility, and a 50,000 SF Outdoor Plaza, with a subsurface water retention/cistern irrigation system, all constructed on the top level of a new 700-car Parking Deck. The deck is constructed of cast-in-place, post-tensioned concrete, while the Food Service and Student Recreation Facilities are framed in structural steel. The entire structure is clad in brick and precast concrete to be compatible with the surrounding architecture, and the Food Service and Recreation Facilities utilize a standing seam metal roof. The project is constructed within the existing Rams Head surface parking lot, just south of Kenan Stadium. Construction costs total over $60 million, and construction was completed in early 2005.
